While I have not yet been to every country, I can say with near certainty that one restaurant in particular will hold the title for best seafood. I have referred many people to this restaurant over the years. Every single one of them comes back to tell me how amazing their experience was and how the food was of such high quality. That is exactly what you can expect when you visit this bijou Lisbon restaurant and bar.
Cervejaria Ramiro is located centrally to one of Lisbon’s most active areas. Only a 20 minute walk from the famous Castelo de Sao Jorge, the castle that overlooks Lisbon. Ramiro has been around since 1956, serving high quality beer and seafood ever since. This unassuming restaurant is actually one of the highest rated in all of Lisbon. The seafood you can expect to eat here was likely caught soon before you arrived. Yes. We’re talking that fresh.
The menu has a wide range of seafood including shellfish, mollusks, local fish and beyond. When we arrived, we made it a point to order oysters, tiger prawns and soft shell crab along with a bottle of the famed Portuguese vinho verde. Vinho Verde, aka ‘green wine’ is specific to the northeastern region of Portugal and gets its name from the hue of the wine, which is white but comes with a slight hint of green due to its short aging process.
As I mentioned, this restaurant is in the middle of a popular area, and as a result it gets a decent amount of notoriety. If you want to get a seat without the possibility of an incredibly long wait, make reservations as soon as possible. If you plan on visiting Lisbon, this restaurant is a must for any seafood lover. Just be ready to shell out some dough.
